I know the name Steve Artis, didn't he work for some other company? Hot Buttered was Terry Fitzgerald, didn't know they had HB Kneeboards. 8)

That's it Ken, Earthrise was the name. I remember Steve from the 70's.

Spot the fake.

Out of the Fitz factory came several kneeboard genii.

Steve Artis, Albert Whiteman, David Parkes were all shapers in the factory at one time or t'other.

From memory Bruce Hart was a sander there as well. But that's not my own personal memory! :)

There were probably others..... err I reckon a guy called Frank Latta could have made a great kneeboard ..... sorry I am slipping off topic.

(yep I know the plural of genius is geniusesssss)

Pics OF Albert and David with their individual Hot Buttereds lost when my hard drive fried. I still have the mags though :)

cheers

Thanks Headwax, I remember proudly picking my new Earthrise board in the late 70s ... it was a great twin fin board ... sadly the occy straps broke and so it did as well .... great memories came flooding back when I saw the logo :)

Pleasure!

SteveA made the best boards eh? I've still got a few downstairs. Can't remember how many. Two Hot buttereds 8) three earthrises I think, one albert Knormal assymetrical, One Albert Friar Tuck assymetrical ..... one Ski Tail Ponsford Tuck (not mine but inherited)....

Last time I saw an earthrise in the water it was ridden by a big fat kneelo who had picked it up for ten bucks who couldn't surf for s*&^ and was going to cut the tail off it and turn it into a flex tail and I felt like cuttting his brains out and feeding them to the little fish that hang around the shore, but even the little fish would have puked at the thought ....

ahh sorry. Was that politically incorrect?

Cheers

I'm glad it bought back memories.!

I've got a double flyer rounded pin HB pic somewhere.... the rails on the board are extra-ordinary

Hya SteveA

Nice to hear from you.

Here's a little shot from a 8 mill film of one of your boards on the beach at South Maroubra one Sunday in 78? 79?

It's one of the Maroubra Kneelo contests, looks like autumn from the weather though it is blowing Nor East in the video....

That's Glen Perry on the right :)

Good old Glen, teaching English at Sydney Girls High School now David P tells me....

Here's a shot from the last Sitmar Cruises ... 1979?

By chance do you recognise the spray on this board on the left (shot at North Maroubra 1979 Sitmar Cruises)???

cheers :)

Hi Steve. I remember reading about and your boards back in the late 70's in Tracks magazine when I lived in Huntington Beach with Mutiny. I remember names like Ken Horton, Dale Ponsford, Peter C, Dave Parks, and a host of others I am forgetting.
I was always impressed. I think I knew about as many kneeboarders from the Australia'n Tracks magazine as I knew in person in Cali
Good to see your still around. Are you near Jervis Bay?

HW, that Surfing Adventure logo is a beaut :D

One of my favorite Kneeboard logos was the 'winged- demon' kneelo on some of the later El Paipp kneeboards from the " House of Paipo"(circa 1971). If I recall he was grabbing rope handles. I would appreciate if someone with a picture of that logo posting it.

Hey H'Wax, that looks like the logo off my old Kenn kneelo 8)

A few years back, I turned that guy on the wave into a kneeboarder ( mine had flippers though :D ) & had him printed onto a T-shirt... later, he found his way onto the Sunshine Coast Kneeboard Club's T shirt; around the time of the 'Worlds' here in 2002...

apologies to the copyright holder
