or does he specialize in the Aussie Tri's also.
Funny you should ask, I'm picking up my first new Schoelkopf 5'10" X 22 3/4"X 2 3/4" swallow tail, Quad today

The Fins are further up the tail than normal, but not Aussie. Eric is predominantly a Quad guy. He's been playing w/ enteresting fin postions lately. The rear fins are spaced 4" to 5" inside to inside, centered on the stringer, it's a real drivie set up. He did glass on's on my board in case I want to play w/ the set up.
Jack B. (aka shack master) Greg Little, Tom Lin to name a few, all ride Erics boards and they do seriously charge. They could give you a better preformance lowdown based on water time.
Still a Grom!

New Schoelkopf
The new board turned out killer
But I had the dimisions wrong on the new fin placement on my previous post. From the tail to the leading edge of the rear fins, measures 16". Spaced 9" @ the base to 10" @ fin tips. Smaller rail fins are 4 1/2" up from there. I don't know what the Aussie Quads measure as far as fin placement.

Schoelkopf shapes are usually fat and thick like his skull...beeline wrote:What is Schoelkopf into shaping?

just kidding i have been riding his boards for many years and
haven't had one that I didn't like. he can make anything from a single
to a quad and for some reason they always work. some of his innovations have looked quite odd but then when you get them in the water they ride
like magic. how he comes up with some of his ideas must be related to the large quantity of resin fumes.....who knows

Regarding Shoelkoff's shapes- I picked up my first Shoelkoff about eight months ago and immediately realized that I was the owner of a rare "magic" board. His board's are EXTREMELY light, the deck pad is intregrated into the deck and made flush with the deck. My board is a forward placement quad, 5'10'', 23'' wide, round tail, semi blunt nose.
Eric is a trippy guy, very creative and independent. Eric shapes AND glasses all of his boards. His shapes have been developed with little outside influence. He doesn't travel much, doesn't use the internet, etc. However, his fin placement is forward and his board lengths run from 5'10 to 6'3'' for regular every day kneeboards (sounds like the Aussie's doesn't it). Part of the reason his boards work so well is that he rides them himself and is constantly experimenting. He showed me one board in which he had removed and replaced the glass in fins 5 times in an attempt to find the perfect fin placement while eliminating all other variables. Lately he has been experimenting with quad's with the smaller fin ahead of the larger fin. He say's they work awesome.
Eric only promotion are the guys who ride his boards. He has no website, no advertising. I think he's one of the most gifted kneeboard shapers in the world and few people have heard of him. He's the stealth shaper!
You can get Eric's phone number from the link's section of the blasthawaii.com website.
