barring a miracle, smallish friday with increasing swell saturday. however, I toasted the God Of Swell saturday with a significant number of tequila shots - hoping he comes through.

Matt, are those bat rays edible? I've had guitarfish tails before... they were quite good.

randy, i wouldnt eat a white sea bass if i caught it in newport harbor !!!

if you go to sea world and order scallops at the restaurant , theyll serve you scalloped bat ray wings, pretty good!!...

i dont know how to prepare them though...

i just heard today for the first time that guitar fish are pretty good, i never would have thought.... caught ALOT of them in mexico and long beach breakwall...

try leopard shark if you get the chance.... :)

Surfed a long hollow pointbreak this afternoon at very low tide. It was howling offshore, dirty and super fast and hollow with 2 guys out.If it was a weekend there would have been 50 out. Rincon had less than normal and looked classic. I guess the wind switch caught everyone off guard....

People use a cookie cutter to cut bat rays into scallop-looking pieces.

Had a quorum today at RJs with Jimbo, Jimputz, Wayne, Mike. Fun little peaks; cold, no wind.

Got rincon solid today, slight offshore wind and great lines sweeping into the cove.. Heavy crowd(the usual mix) but was able to manage a number of rides from the indicator to the cove!

Most sets in the HH range, with a few above that. Where all the other kneeriders at? I keep expecting to see some out at Rincon, but i'm always fending off the shortboarders alone

Ler, O-side can't be any smaller than the swell at the rained-out 'contest'. If'n it's waist to chest high, whoah baby!!!

Mason, mostly I am a weekend warrior, 'cept for the early morning's I can sneak a sess before work @ the old man's rivermouth. One of these days I'm sure we will cross paths at the 'con.

W.G., You wouldn't be talkin PP on Mon???

Just caught 'wind' of another sewage spill in the Bay...

While the contest looks to be 'cute,' the forecast for the weekend up here is solid DOH+, offshore at least on Saturday, and some swinging tides.

We've had a challenging year up here wrt spills. Throw in a bunch of run-off.

I kinda chuckled at this report off Lake Erie, "ice free areas" from Weather Underground.

Thursday Night
Southwest winds 5 to 15 knots. Cloudy with a chance of snow showers . Waves in ice free areas 2 feet or less. See Lake Erie Open Lakes forecast for Friday through Sunday. The water temperature is 33 degrees off Toledo...32 degrees off Cleveland...and 36 degrees off Erie.

LAKE flat here, and it wouldn't matter if there were waves. The temp at my place is about 15-20 below with the wind. How cold is that you ask?
Well, it's colder than your freezer, your hands hurt in the first 30 seconds they are exposed, after a minute, you can't speak correctly because your face hurts and your jaw is numb, if your outside shooting football, you have about a half hour before your cameras stop working, your eyes seem to stick together when you blink because of your tears freezing on your eyeballs, and if you pee uphill in the street, don't worry, it won't run down into your shoes, it starts freezing when it hits the road.  :P
