WG, I've been wearing booties all the time for over a year, and I'll never go back - even when I'm trunking it I still have thin stirrup socks on.

I have the same Ninja booties and I love them! Not too much tread for my fins, and enough tread to walk on the reef or cobblestones or even broken glass (Mex) when you need to.

You guys have me ready to try the DA Fins. I've missed having soft fins since I broke the strap on one of my greenie churchills.

WG and Randy, thanks for the input on the ninjas, I've been looking for a better option for a while. I'll give them a try when I get the Dafins. WG, do you use any sort of fin tethers with that set up? One spot I occasionally surf likes to pull fins off.

Do to the prolonged 'cold' weather and water (and nasty colds) this year in SD i had to buy some Legit Booties (Mutants). They did the job, but, couldn't fit them in my Wave Grippers So i went Nov's way and surfed with out them. Because i have semi large feet too, 12, it pretty much worked as if i had webbed toes. But once the waves startt getting serious, double over head +, or long paddles i'll break out the fins and just keep warm by wearing gloves and hood and those new furry rash guard things (highly recommended). But for me, Fins + Booties = 1 hour session max w/ Massive leg cramps. Ouch. :P

I think I just solved this recently. I typically use H2Odyssey fin socks with my Redley fins. A good match, but I typically will run through the bottom or toes of a brand new pair in less than two weeks at places like G-land. Boots are way too stiff for me, and I can't usually stuff them into the same fins. H2odessey fin socks are only 3mm thick, but a search of the internet found that they make a 5mm variety as well. The boogies in New England are big on them. I just ordered a pair from Tara, up in Freeline in SC, last week, and will report back.

Paul, I use the 5 mils and they don't wear through near as quick as the 3 mils but may be a bit tight in your fins.
Matt, a couple of coats of neoprene cement on the soles and they will last alot longer than normal.

I can't believe I missed this thread earlier, but thought I'd chime in on my experience on this issue.

I've found that Toobs Blunt Cut XL's fit my size 13 feet with a 3m Ninja bootie well, and have a reasonably stiff blade but low profile both in length and width. I used a dremel tool to widen the foot pocket a bit for some extra comfort, but mostly because I like to mess around with that sort of stuff. It helped, but probably wasn't critical.

I spent a lot of time running through fins to find ones that work with my size feet, so thought I'd offer up my experiences.

Cheers...T
