Post by Greg Little »

Well Iv'e been talking to Jack, and it looks like I'm in. The only problem is that I am getting home from indo on the 24th and then I have to hop on a plane on the 25th or 26th, and head right back. We should all have this problem. :D Has anybody heard any info on the Air Tahiti Nue Deal from LAX??? And if not, can someone point me in the right direction to look for it?? Thanks Greg...

Albert-
I'm doing everything I can, hoping to get a ticket with miles and then go feral... or I could book a job and the problems would be moot. Just have to wait and see.
But once again, the planes at LAX almost land in my swiming pool. Even if I'm out of town, carpool up from SD, have one guy drop everyone off at the gate, swing over to my place and park in the driveway/garage, and take a $7, 3 minuet taxi back to the gate. Two weeks later, do the reverse, .. no worries.

Anyone up for so Bill Mahr anti-PC trash takin'?

That "Isla Nacion" bulls*** is for F.L.A.N. members. :!:

I lived at Ramey, P.R. for seven years, and went to a semi-private D.O.D. school. I can tell you from experience that all Puerto Ricans think of themselves as Puertoricanos first, and Americans as an after-thought. Yet, at the time that I graduated from high school in 1980, 85% of the citizens of P.R. were on some sort of U.S. welfare. (don't beleive me? look it up in the 1980 U.S. census. 85%!) The catch? They don't pay any U.S. taxes. And, still, to this day, all of the taxes they DO collect stay in the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Puerto Ricans have all the rights of any U.S. citizen, don't think of themselves as Americans, and pay no U.S. taxes. Yet, they still feel that they have to "represent" any time there is an opportunity.

That makes even less sense to me as the arrogant Texans, New York'an, Mayflower blue-blood, or any other clic that thinks they are better than any other American merely because of there heritage.

You want to "represent"? Then respresent for the stars and stripes, not one star and three stripes. :!:

Puerto Rico in the eyes of the International Surfing Association (ISA), as well as the International Olimpic Comittee (IOC) is its own country.

In fact in the eyes of the ISA, Hawaii is its own country. Much like Guadeloupe is separated from France and so on....

I understand your views, dont share them, but I understand.

Puerto Rico is going to represent itself in the Worlds.

Thank you

Paul, following your thinking, the Aussies should therefor surf for Britain seeing as they are still only a commonwealth and have the Queen as their head of state!!!!
Looks like the the brits are going to be gunning for the titles this year!!
On your knees, if you please

EQ: thanks for the great offer - although it would be a shame if we had to leave you behind. Get on it!

Paul: this aint the Olympics. Patriotism is welcome but let's leave the politics at home. Then again...since I was born in Key West, maybe I can get the ISA to recognize my own island nation?

HELLO FROM "BASQUE COUNTRY"

Post by Iñigo »

Hello everybody.
I have just send my Registration Form for Tahiti Worlds, so I hope to see all of you there.
I agree politics must be left out. I am used to see how politics spoils everything it touch.
There must not be reasons to explain what each one FEELS. Feelings are not under our control. Nobody has been in love with the wrong person?
I have. Let's hope to have good waves in Papara.

Ivan,

I was impressed by you and the rest of the PR's at the Santa Cruz event. You surf with pride and passion, which in the grand scheme of things is really what it's all about.

Regardless of what flag we surf under we all have the same passion and now have an opportunity to bring it all to Tahiti. I wish you and your team well.

PS. Thanks again for the Ron del Barrilito... I keep searching for it here... perhaps at the Puerto Rico Gathering I'll bring some home!

Cheers to all!

Hey Ler,

Thanks for the plug to get Jack to give me some (I must say very well-deserved) time off!

Man, I'd love to go. Unfortunately, this year isn't going to work out for me. I've just plunked my disposable income into a new house I move into next month, and to top things off, my wife just tore her right Achilles' tendon, which means she needs extra help taking care of our 2-year-old while she spends this summer on crutches. (Have you ever tried to catch a running 2-year-old while on crutches? Damn near impossible, but, I'm ashamed to say, also damn funny to watch.)

My personal silver lining is that I'm taking a family trip to the Big Island in early June. Hope to catch some waves there. But my best wishes for an excellent time go to all those headed to Tahiti.
