Northside HB this morning 6 foot with an occasional 10 foot set!
wayne an I paddled out at the crack of dawn and pretty much paddled the whole time  the current was flowing
mostly VERY walled but an occasional notch
got 3 decent ones in 1 1/2 hours
I bet the higher tide will help it out

I surfed the obvious reef spot north of Santa Cruz this morning. The wind was on it early but not too bad, but the negative tide left only bowls with very few shoulders. Cold, cold, can't believe it's July cold. Lost a flipper out there :( has anyone seen my flipper?

Look out K-man, I'm headed your way too. I'm thinking either mid-day Sat or early Sunday. Worst of all, I'm planning on bringing my foot board too (just in case it's all softy, which is typical in town.)
It could be worse, I could be in Oakla-homa.

O'side was solid 10ft faces with a few bigger sets. the smaller sets were super hollow and had good shape, but the big sets were walled. The current was really bad....
Tamerack this afternoon was double over head with bigger sets, and the lifeguards had the beach closed to all swimmers. Surfers only... And very little form.

stopped by wedge before daylight ,not enough water, and it lokked big but not all that big, and the shape sucked, i guess all that changed by around 7:15 , and a bodysurfer in the afternoon got caught inside by what was called a 20' set that was going toward the jetty( i've been caught inside by these in the past) he lost his life on the jetty. wrong place ,wrong time. i haven't found out his name ,but wherever his family is , "my prayers go out for you" i always dread those times when i hear of another wedge casualty, not to mention a death. the place kills, cripples or maims somone every year. i feel very lucky and blessed to have ridden it all these years without any major injuries.
anyone that surfs there please use caution and good judgement on the positions you put youselves in

Heh, you saw that eh Jack? Facebook updates don't cost me anything down there... and yes, DOH with a lot of current at the Rito beachbreaks, including the one we were at. I had to wait 20 minutes for a set to clear before paddling out - I stopped counting at 25 waves.
Second 3hr session at the famous right hand point south of Rosarito. Surfed out!
Back tomorrow with the wife and try to hook up with some OC/LA kneelos that are rumored to be down. 8)

Fun waves in DE and MD yesterday. Chest hi on the peaks with the occ head hi one. Off at 3 AM, surfed all day, met up with Mike F in the OC for the evening glassoff, home after midnight.

"Fun" if you like ledging, sucking, heaving concave face takeoffs with about a 50-50 chance of making the drop into about a foot of water  Had to flush the sand out of my nasal passages this AM.

I was going to make light reference of some similarity to Wedge but the fatality sobered me right up- sad news.

Some good ones here in the bay this morning. I started early
with JohnnyS and we were getting some nice, glassy, good sized
dredging lefts - low tide.

Then we were joined by Willy and Wesley for four kneeboarders
on the peak. Some of the nicest waves I've surfed since last winter,
I'm still having a couple of the good ones playing over in my mind tonight.

Three BLAST F2K's and a Flashie between us. I just looked and the swell
is still very solid, just has wind on it this evening. Looks like there's going
to be plenty of swell again in the morning and its back at dawn for round
two. 8)

kenny and i went to look at o'side at dawn, big and walled, ended up back at trestles cottons to be exact, good size on the sets but as usual a bit soft. very fun and rippable. i stayed at the south end getting the rights. no problem getting the ones i wanted, you just had to look out for free floating projectiles when a clean-up would come through. amazing how many standups are afraid to duck dive a bit of whitewater. all in all it was pretty fun.
not quite indo though :?

I did not want to follow maxb previous post, but will now. Surfed Trestles Friday at the crack of dawn.... watched my buddy paddle through 2 sets before I laughed  , I went out between sets  We were going to Cottons but looked fat, so went to uppers and (unbelievably) in the right place, right time caught every wave I wanted (everybody was too far out anticipating I guess). I had such a good time surfing with a couple of friends (laughing our butts off about stupid stuff...things good friends do!!!!!!!!!!!) In the meantime getting a little confidence back surfing some decent surf and surfing it well...GOOD TIMES, KEL

Back again this morning for round two with JohnnyS, Willy and Wesley.

A bit smaller today but still plenty of juice, glassy and foggy. Johnny had
his brand new F2K out for it's first go. Very nice board. Saw Will and
Wesley both get some good ones out there today!

Nobody else out cept us four kneeboarders and my friend Tony who
had a good peak to himself down the beach.
