Scott----you caught the window--surfed the same spot 'bout noon. Marginal, inconsistent, barrels to small to allow a clean exit, mostly a rock dance, all to myself for good reason. Around 11 o'clock today swell filled in, solid but high tide warbles, opted for low tide check at 4. Swell backed off big time, front moved in with rain and wind, no go----you caught the window 8)

Wow Scott!
Sounds like yer a lucky surf dog.
It's not like I can get out to surf alot, so I was bummed to get skunked both times I tried to surf this week!
Typical Central coast spring conditions, windy, or closed out, or out of control or both. Not to mention the water has chilled.
You are stoked.

Yes, Fredo, I was a thankful, lucky surf dog yesterday.

I did a lot of reading about Taiwan surf before I went, but knew I couldn't sample any of it due to the work-related nature of the short, 6-day trip. But I saw some decent surf: 3-6' onshore beach break on my last day being driven to the airport. I'm sure a sheltered area would have been fun.

One of this site's most revered kneelo shapers even has a board stowed on Taiwan, so maybe on a future trip with a bit of a typhoon swell in the water...

BTW, it was dead flat in Beijing!

There's pretty sizable surf on the way for this Wednesday, although somewhat bumpy wind conditions: anyone available around the Santa Cruz area for a surf on Wednesday afternoon in probably the last strong swell of the season?
I'm not influenced by the past; I change it!

Looks like the swell is a bit early. buoys are at 19.4 at 13...Pretty good here in town,4-6 fairly clean lefts/rights.Had to pick and choose, small crew made that easy.
Probably go up to the big bay in the morn, bars are pretty good, and the winds are os.
Have a good time down in cruz, should be sizeable..

Now kenny....I weigh 160.You may be a few # over that...
That board is NOT going to float you..Nice try though... :lol:Besides, you've got a garage full of pavels!!!

cheers

Shoot, that's only a 50 pound difference, no problem.

Really great time of year for windsurfing Jalama. I once camped at jalama over easter and smoked a lid :) of dirty columbian weed and never went in the water ,because it was blowing 40 knots for 7 days straight! Hey Mark R. ,It was with Eric...

Had my surf sunrise service this morning before church.

The only guy foolish to paddle out, I ended up being the entertainment for my local crew as they all watched me take wave after wave and set after set on the head! The swell kept picking up not backing down and the dropping tide killed the shape.

For the record I know I saw some rideable waves out there!!

Lets just say I convinced all 10 of them to go home or wait a higher tide!!

Out for a family hike. . .

Happy Easter to all! And happy post Seder to those inclined.

Maybe tomorrow?
