Newbie needs help deciding on a board...
I am a 56 year old surfer who can no longer surf..After 4 hip replacements I can no longer get up fast enough. So to be able to still play in the surf I want to take up kneeboarding..I am 5'11" and weigh 180lbs..Have never been on a kneeboard..What would be the best size, shape, and style for a newbie ??

board selection
I would suggest an e-mail to Bud at Blast Surf Designs. I have a similar situation, only a little older and two fake knees. Bud has the experience and knowledge to provide a board that should meet your needs and particular type of surf. The cost is affordable with shipping included, and he's a good guy to work with. Bottom line, same as in stand up, dealing directly with a quality shaper, particularly with unusual circumstance insures receiving the board that should work best for you. Check his web page.

Can do.
But slightly different dimensions (not so much volume).
An excellent choice for a very wide variety of surf.
Can be tuned to the waves you get.
You'll progress quickly with an approach that will lead you to full access to the worlds best surf spots if you so desire.

Lee Pattison just mentioned "180 lb old guy?.......sounds like most of your team riders Bud"
