Evan we missed you, hope your tryouts went well.
Unlike most spots in North County which were 'ugly' the kelp beds & reef managed to keep the contest area "contestable" so Seaside Reef hosted another Tiny-Wave-League event.
Powerless reform foam, soft peaks, shifting lineups off the near shore reef kept the guys second guessing wave sections. The best you could hope for was a single move or a ridge you could stretch out a few dozen meters. However the small completive contingent meant all but one would advance to the final.
The light surf defied logic by losing momentum as the tide drained all the way out by Finals times leaving the fellows to contend with a pronounced West & North swell mix with waves sometimes coming from both directions at once. Brad combo’d two short but good rides much to the delight of the crew on the beach which included Legend’s Jack Beresford and Joe Coyne. Paul had one of his signature long shoulder rides. Sean’s stringerless rocket netted him one long ride and a few waves with some opportunities. Eric also started with long ride but only found a short face or two. Chris and Ken skillfully hunted the leftovers but really the surf never offered anybody a chance to do much.

The tour takes some time off for the holidays and will resume Feburary 8th in Huntington Beach on 9th Street just north of the pier. Come on out and cheer on the guys as the hunt for the next National Champion continues!
Time now to paddle out and have some fun so enjoy a joyous holiday season, hope you get lots of good waves and sunny days for Christmas and we'll see you next year in HB.
