Places around Santa Cruz and points north will all do very well in this swell. For example, there won't be many guys sitting on the big Left at The Lane, even working on the morning tide. It's just a bit tough everywhere with the super high tide at 10am, then everything will improve on the outgoing tide. Scott Creek will also be good in the morning and double overhead.

Forecast looks to be getting better for 12/23 with a 6-10' face day. Good NE winds projected so OB could be good. Monday will be the indicator and is a little bigger than Tuesday. Mid tide morning going higher so shouldn't be too much current... but then it is OB.
Let's keep it fluid. Best to check in Monday to find out what conditions are like and where to meet up.
Happy Holidays to all!
Cheers,
Don

Today
East side big and junky but smooth conditions and some good waves were available.
Saw EQ and Scott surf by once each on a good one.
Saw Scott's last one taking off two inches behind a long boarder.
Long boarder kicked out and got verbally abused by another surfer who told him to learn how to surf.
Haha

So he got a "talkin' to", eh, Bob? Good to hear. Yeah, I remember that one--would have been a heck of a wave it I'd of had it without the interference. He additionally did the slight fade into me also to make sure I had to straighten out on the takeoff and then wouldn't be able to pull off enough speed off the bottom turn.
Yes, Ed's board was one of the biggest I've ever ridden and it handled the size easily, did well in the occasional steep section and accelerated nicely when needed and did a nice job traversing the flat spots. And when EQ paddled out on his 6'9" at large Pleasure Point I'm sure that set some sort of size record for a kneeboard there!

"BIG Marshmellow" is a fitting moniker, EQ, for what we saw--a few waves easy DOH. Here's a pic of a medium set coming through Suicides...

Nice
Glad you guys scored. Keep us posted on the rest of the week.
If I say its safe to surf this beach Captain, then its safe to surf this beach. I mean I'm not afraid to surf this place, I'll surf this whole f@cking place!
Looks like we are pulling the plug on our trip to SF tomorrow (Tuesday). Tide swings and swell aren't adding up for OB and my time is limited to travel south.
I'll try to get down there the day or so after xmas. Winds and swell are set up for a good few weeks in Jan with south winds are set to diminish and hopefully go offshore.
Glad to hear you all are getting water time in some size.
Cheers to all!

Surfed around Noriega today by myself. Inside about 6ft, got a perfect tube, a few others and a bunch of waves. Lot's of paddling, good three hour workout. Should be bigger tomorrow.
