U.S. Kneeboard Titles Return to Oceanside Harbor May 8

Oceanside, CA (February 6, 2020) – The 2020 Kneeboard Surfing USA Titles and Kneeboard Festival will be held at Oceanside Harbor on Friday May 8 at the South Jetty. This will be the 3rd time that the Titles will have been held in Oceanside. Previously they were held at the South Jetty in 2008 and 2017.

One of the premier kneeboarding events in the world, the Kneeboard Surfing USA Titles attracts dozens of the sport’s top competitors. In addition to the Open division, the 2020 event will feature Women’s, Junior’s, and Pro Junior’s divisions. Also, for the first time, a Bodyboard division will be offered.

This year’s event is being dedicated to the memory of Don Harris, founder and long-time president of KSUSA. Harris passed away in October while surfing in Northern California. Special tributes are planned during the event including the first presentation of the Don Harris Trophy to the Open division champion.

The 2020 US Kneeboard Titles shortly follows the 2020 World Titles being held February 29 to March 7 in Dunedin, New Zealand and will include some of the top U.S. kneeboarders who are also competing in New Zealand.

“We are excited to return the US Kneeboard Titles to Oceanside Harbor on May 8th and again showcase contemporary, radical kneeboard surfing.  Don Harris was a visionary who had great impact on the US and international kneeboard surfing communities.  Don’s founding principle of KSUSA was to promote camaraderie in the kneeboard community” said Brad Colwell, KSUSA President.

One of the longest-running events of its kind in the world, KSUSA has previously hosted 14 U.S. Titles and one World Titles event.

Heats will begin at 7 a.m. weather and waves permitting. The public is invited to attend this free event. Registration information for the 2020 Kneeboard Surfing USA Titles is available at www.ksusa.org.

A pre-event gathering will be held Thursday, May 7 as well as an awards program on May 8 immediately following conclusion of the contest (location to be announced).
